Congratulations, Tom Glavine

Tonight, Tom Glavine ended his quest for 300. He not only pitched masterfully, but knocked in the first run of the game to spark the Mets offense.

If you've followed Tom Glavine's career as a Mets Lifer, he went from being that hated Braves pitcher to a guy who you never could quite accept as a Met. Well tonight Tom Glavine has officially etched his place in Mets history by winning #300 in orange and blue.

There are times when you're not quite sure if Glavine enjoys being a Met. In fact during the ESPN pre-game highlights they showed clips of Glavine pumping his fist and getting excited after a big play, and he was in a Mets uniform! I've never seen those clips before. That's not the Tom Glavine I know.

But tonight my view of Glavine has changed and I embrace him as one of the best pitchers to play for the Mets. Sure he'll be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Brave. Sure his best buddy is John Smoltz. But tonight, the greatest night of his career, he's a New York Met.

Congratulations Tom Glavine on being one of the elite pitchers in MLB history. The only thing better that you could accomplish this season is bringing a World Series back to Shea.

I would love nothing more than to see you do that.
