Bats Getting Healthy

This is what we're used to seeing; bombs dropping off the bats of Carlos Delgado, Daivd Wright and Carlos Beltran, who has hit 4 in the last two games. With a combined seven home runs in the series, the Big Three for the Mets are tearing up Philadelphia’s pitching, and are beginning to reclaim their reputation as the best offense in the National League.

It had been a while since we’ve seen this kind of explosiveness and it certainly feels good, especially coming against the Phillies, who the Mets can sweep with a win today and put themselves 7 games ahead. But it won’t be easy as Mike Pelfrey (o-5), filling in for Oliver Perez (back stiffness) makes his first start in two months since being sent down. The bats are going to have to supply some more fire power to day in order to complete the sweep.
