Inconsistency

That is the one word I would use to describe this Mets team. Inconsistency.

Yesterday's game was one of the ugliest baseball games of the year. 3 errors and a horrendous pitching performance coupled with insomnia-plagued bats equals a massive defeat.

John Maine looked like a little league pitcher. You know how in little league pitchers have no control and basically every batter gets to a 3-2 count. That was Maine yesterday. Walks, hits, inability to get batters out.

Maine is starting to remind me of Al Leiter in the fact that he can't pitch well in the first three innings. Remember how Leiter would give up 3 runs in the first inning and then pitch a shutout the rest of the game? That's Maine except that he's not pitching shutouts in the remaining innings.

Is Pelfrey really becoming our second best starter? I shutter at the thought.

Wake up bats! The Mets have lost 5 out of their last 8 games and except for the 15 run smack down of the Yanks on Friday afternoon the Met bats are MIA. If they don't start hitting we could easily find ourselves 8 games back and 5 games under .500 before the All Star break.
