If I asked you to list the top 10 NL RBI guys over the last 30 days I'm sure you'd put together a list that included Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Lance Berkman, Matt Holliday, and maybe David Wright.
Well, you might be surprised to see who's at #8. It's Carlos Delgado. Over the last 30 days, Carlos Delgado has driven in 22 RBIs which puts him 8th in the RBI rankings for the last month. David Wright is #3 with 25 and Ryan Howard is #1 with 34.
Has Delgado really been hitting that well? Not really. Over the same time span his average is .261 with a .333 OBP and a .522 slugging percentage. It's respectable, but not sensational.
Delgado looked great at the plate against the Phillies, but is he turning his season around? I'm not sure, but I've heard a lot less Delgado bashing of late.
Maybe that's because of the recent efforts of the bullpen, but I hope Delgado is slowly finding his groove. If he does and David Wright continues to swing the bat well, the offense might be picking up at just the right time.
