Ulcers and Heart Attacks
The Mets did the improbable last night taking 3 of 4 games from the Phillies in Philadelphia. Of course my cardiologist has banned me from watching any Mets games for at least week.
In a game that should have been smooth sailing, the Mets bullpen found a way to make it interesting. I really thought Wagner was going to give up a home run to Jayson Worth. It would have been a storybook ending for the Phillies and pretty much buried this Mets team.
But it was not to be and here the Mets sit one game above .500 and just 2.5 games back of 1st. Unbelievable.
And this week is where we'll get to see what kind of team the Mets really are. If they are the .500 team they have proven themselves to be then the Mets will lose 3 games this next week and continue to hang around .500. If they are the team we hope they can be and want to prove they are a contender they will sweep the Giants and win 2 out of 3 from the Rockies.
That folks would be a miracle given where this team has been this year. But let's not get too excited yet. The Mets still have to prove to me that they're not just a tease, but that they're the real deal.
I want to believe in this team, but they've still got work to do.

I never thought that game was over last night even with a 10-1 lead. In that park, with that offense, and some weak bullpen help, I just knew they would make it intersting. i too thought wagner was going to serve it up. he got lucky and he knew it.
