Runs + Santana = Win

It's amazing what happens when the Mets score runs and the pitchers throw shutouts. The Mets win baseball games! It's really a fantastic formula for success.

Unfortunately Johan Santana has been the unluckiest of pitchers lately. He's 5th in the NL in ERA with a 2.89 mark, but he hadn't won in 5 previous starts. Thankfully the Mets got some runs early (and late) to help Santana get a much deserved win.

The Mets are now riding a 5 game winning streak into this afternoon's matinee with John Maine on the mound.

The thing I'm really impressed with is the way the Mets are getting 2 out hits to drive in runs. In the 4th with 2 outs Delgado doubled, Tatis walked, and then Castro homered. All of this with 2 outs. That's unheard of for the Mets.

The more 2 out hits the Mets get the better are their chances of winning. Keep the streak alive today fellas. Let's make it a six pack.
