Other than Oliver Perez, who has clearly asserted himself as the best big game pitcher on the squad, I wouldn’t want any other guy than El Duque on the hill in a game as important as this one. For years, Hernandez has proven to be a big game pitcher, never concerned with the pressure. He thrives in these spots and I expect nothing less tonight.

Biggest Game of the Season Tonight
Having been steamrolled yesterday by a potent Yankees lineup, the Mets find themselves in a must win situation tonight in order to feel good about themselves, and feel like they’re making their way out of this losing trend. By taking two out of three from their red-hot cross-town rivals, and subsequently, the season series, the Mets’ confidence would be injected with a much-needed boost as they head into another round of Interleage play against the Twins and A’s. Plus, it will keep the Braves and Phillies at arm’s length in the NL East.
