We all know how bad our bullpen is, but it's nice to see that other team have crummy ones too.
Yesterday was a perfect example. Eric Gagne came into the game with a 1-run lead, but left the game down 4-2. In addition to Gagne's stellar performance, I found myself foaming at the mouth when they showed Guillermo Mota warming up in the bullpen. I was hoping and praying that they'd bring Mota in, but needless to say I was satisfied with Gagne's performance.
The Brewers are not alone. The Phillies experienced a little BLOWpen action when Brad Lidge was force to pitch part of the 8th in a tie game and ended up giving up the winning runs to rookie Daniel Murphy. The Phillies problems continued into their next series with the Cubs.
Trevor Hoffman, the all-time saves leader, looks as unreliable as Aaron Heilman of late. The Yankees and Red Sox are having issues with their middle relief.
Of course the Mets take the cake leading the majors in blown saves and no lead is safe as we have seen, but it is refreshing to watch other teams go through the same pain and sufferring that we have.
It gives you hope. Well maybe not hope, but at least a little sadistic enjoyment for a passing hour.
