Oh Jimmy. Yesterday, to start off the celebration of the Phillies first World Series in nearly 3 decades Jimmy Rollins stepped to the podium to talk about who? His great teammates? No. His coaches? Nope. The great fans of Philadelphia? No such thing. His mom and dad? Not even close.
Jimmy Rollins talked about Johan Santana and the Mets.
Really. You just won the World Series. You're going to Disney World and in your moment in the sun you talk about the Mets? Come on Jimmy.
I understand that the Phillies hate the Mets. I get the fact that the majority of the NL East despises the Mets. I'm totally ok with that. In fact, I kind of like it. But the fact that Jimmy Rollins can't get the Mets off his mind makes me think he has a little school boy desire to be on the Mets.
Think about it. What the first sign that a boy likes a girl? He picks on her. He makes fun of her. He teases her. But secretly that's the boy's way of showing he likes her. That's so Jimmy Rollins.
In any case, Rollins should enjoy his time on the top of the baseball mountain. Honestly the first thing I thought of when I heard Rollins statement was whether Santana would throw at his head the first time he faces him next season. You know all this hate and tension between these teams is going to explode at some point. We're going to see one of the Ray Knight type of brawls one of these years.
Probably sooner than later.

Philly Fans Are Crybabies
Someone just sent this article to me and I figured I'd share it with all of you, since, you know, we take great pleasure in Philadelphia misery.
In it, Gregg Doyle, writer for CBS Sportsline, rips into Philly fans being a bunch of 'babies".
EXCERPT: A reporter in the press box estimated the crowd's reaction to Rollins was split down the middle, half booing and half cheering. Since the crowd was listed at 44,143, that means there were 22,071½ people with skin as soft as a baby's behind.
Hilarious.

Hi, My Name is Luis Aguayo
Hello. My name is Luis Aguayo. You don't know me? I'm the third base coach for the New York Mets (thanks Jerry!). I'd post a picture of myself, but none exist on the entire Internet. Can you believe that? I can.
I'm just your average third base coach. I like to spit. I like to stand outside doing nothing. And I absolutely love the sunflower seeds. They're so tasty and crunchy at the same time. Plus they allow me to have an excuse to do the other thing I absolutely love, spit!
One of my other hobbies is getting Endy Chavez thrown out at home plate. Oh, it's so funny watching little Endy run around the bases. He's reminds me of Speedy Gonzalez, who I love almost as much as spitting.
When I see Endy flying around second, it just makes me want to see him embarrass himself by making an out at the plate. He's so cute with his skinny little arms chugging back and forth. I just love to watch him get thrown out.
In fact I did it last night, twice! Oh what a wonderful evening. I could hardly write about it in my diary because I was just smiling from ear to ear as I thought about sending Endy around third while Jimmy Rollins' rocket arm was waiting to gun him down like Bambi's momma.
The only person I enjoy sending to home plate more than Endy Chavez is Ramon Castro. Oh that bucket head huffs and puffs around the bag and I send him home just for the fun of it.
So now you know me. I'm Luis Aguayo and I love to watch Endy Chavez get thrown out at home plate. It's almost as fun as spitting. And that's my job.

Payback
In come the Philadelphia Phillies; the team that levied a crushing body blow to us just two weeks ago, leaving all Mets Lifers across the universe dazed and confused. Many of us were perched high atop our ledges, waiving the white flag. I was one of them. But what a difference 12 games make. Rather than being two games back of the Mets for the NL East as they were after that infamous sweep, the Phillies find themselves two behind the Wild Card spot. So tonight, it’s payback time!
It’s time to crush the hopes of Mr. Rollins and his self-proclaimed ‘Team to beat’. I want the Mets to send the Phillies packing, much like we did to the Atlanta Braves. And make no mistake; the Mets want to do exactly that. They’re fired up for this series…and so am I.

Phillies Need To Be Shut Up

I am currently vacationing at the Jersey Shore which is unfortunately very close to Phillies nation. The neighbors to my right are Phillie fans. The neighbors to the left are Phillies fans.
I'm surrounded.
The worst part is these Phillies fans are extremely vocal. We all know that Jimmy Rollins declared them the team to beat, but the fans are more vocal than the players. And they're in second place. Not first.
Sure the Phillies are on a hot streak and they pulled off a big win last night thanks to Utley's homers with one of them coming on a 3-0 pitch (why don't the Mets ever swing at those meatballs?). They're on a roll and they need to be stopped.
All I ask is for 3 wins to shut up the fans, to shut up Rollins, and to give me some breathing room atop the NL East.
The only good thing about being surrounded by Phillies fans is that when the Mets win, I want to run into them.
If we lose, I don't want to see them.
